Terms of Use
These Terms of Use set out the rules for using RiderBase. By using our website or creating an account, you agree to them, so please read them. We’ve kept the legalese to a minimum.
Who we are
RiderBase (riderbase.co.uk) is operated by Mr Christopher Malia, a sole trader trading as “RiderBase” (“RiderBase”, “we”, “us”, “our”). You can reach us at info@riderbase.co.uk or via our contact page.
1. Using RiderBase
You may use RiderBase for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree to use the site lawfully and not to misuse it, disrupt it, or attempt to access areas you’re not authorised to.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. When you register, you agree to give accurate information and to keep your login details secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account, so let us know straight away if you think someone else is using it.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
3. Our learning content — important safety note
RiderBase provides general educational content about motorcycling, licensing, riding, ownership, and maintenance. It is designed to inform and support you — it is not a substitute for professional rider training, formal instruction, or official guidance.
Our courses and articles don’t replace Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), DVSA theory and practical tests, or hands-on tuition from a qualified instructor. Always follow current laws, the Highway Code, manufacturer instructions, and professional advice. Riding and working on motorcycles carry real risks, and you’re responsible for your own safety and decisions. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for what happens if you rely on our content in place of proper training or professional advice.
4. Reviews and recommendations
Our gear and motorcycle reviews are intended to be honest and helpful. Where a review reflects other riders’ opinions rather than our own hands-on testing, we frame it as “what riders say”. Reviews are our (or others’) opinions, not guarantees. Always do your own checks before buying, and follow safety ratings and manufacturer guidance.
5. Community guidelines
If you take part in our community areas, keep it friendly and respectful. You agree not to post anything that is:
- unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory;
- misleading, spammy, or commercial without our permission;
- infringing someone else’s rights (including copyright);
- encouraging unsafe or illegal riding.
We can remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules. You’re responsible for what you post.
6. Content you post
You keep ownership of the content you create on RiderBase. By posting it, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and share it on the platform so we can run the community and services. You confirm you have the right to post it.
7. Our content and brand
The RiderBase name, logo, design, courses, articles, and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may view and use them for your personal use of the site, but you may not copy, republish, or sell them without our permission.
8. Links to other sites
RiderBase may link to third-party websites. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content or practices. Following those links is at your own risk.
9. Availability
We work to keep RiderBase available and up to date, but we can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or withdraw parts of the site, and we may update our content at any time.
10. Our responsibility to you
We provide RiderBase with reasonable care and skill. However, to the extent permitted by law:
- our content is provided for general information and education, without warranties that it is complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose; and
- we are not liable for any loss or damage that wasn’t reasonably foreseeable, or that arises from your use of (or reliance on) the site or its content.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t legally be excluded. If you use RiderBase as a consumer, you keep all your legal rights under UK consumer law.
11. Ending your use of RiderBase
You can stop using RiderBase and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop providing the service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll change the “last updated” date above, and significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate. Continuing to use RiderBase after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer based elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of your local mandatory laws.
